Transformers 'Animated' Cast and Show Information
[image1]
At Botcon during the David Kaye panel David Kaye himself gave away (what I imagine to be) the majority of the cast for the robots in the new 'Transformers Animated' series starting in early 2008 on Cartoon Network. (Should be noted David Kaye was Megatron in the Beast Era and Unicron Trilogy Transformer shows.)
Optimus Prime (David Kaye)
Bumblebee (Bumper Robinson, in a 'Chris Rock-like voice')
Prowl (Jeff Bennet)
Ratchet (Corey Burton)
Bulkhead (Bill Fagerbakke)
Jazz (Phil LaMarr)
Blurr (John Moschitta Jr., played Blurr in Generation 1)
Ultra Magnus (Jeff Bennet, imitating Robert Stack)
Arcee (Susan Blu, played Arcee in Generation 1)
Grimlock (David Kaye)
Blackarachnia (Cree Summer)
Lugnut (David Kaye)
Megatron (Corey Burton)
Starscream (Tom Kenney)
Shockwave (Corey Burton, played Shockwave in Generation 1)
"A Garbage Truck Transformer" (Weird Al Yankovic)
Waspinator may also make a cameo, but more then likely will not be Scott McNeil (Waspinator and Blackarachnia...makes you wonder if they are new incarnations of the characters, or if it has an odd crossover with Beast Wars...)
Outside of a few characters quite a few will be one episode characters apparantly.
They've already recorded the audio for 29 episodes and the 90 minute 'pilot' movie.
The nice thing to hear, any actors who had lines speaking to someone else recorded with them, which is done more and more rarely in animation these days. And with it all being prelay audio it means they aren't beholden to footage, they get to do the voice then the footage is lined up to what they say.
The original Prime picture had me worried, but the newer team shot after getting used to it and hearing about all the great voices makes me wonder if this might not be the return of good Transformers animation. First time I've been excited for new Transformers series in a long time.
I saw the news at multiple places, but I'm crediting the place I saw it first and got most of the information from.

Voice cast looks awesome. Weird Al Yankovic as a garbage truck? Hell yeah. I'm even starting to warm to the animation style a bit. It's nice to see things looking a bit more traditionally western after all the cruddy pseudo-animes in the last few years.
But why is Optimus a firetruck? Downright blasphemy, it is. And it's not even like he's a fire truck in the new movie. So what gives? Oo

David Kaye, eh? I wonder when he emmigrated to Los Angeles from Canada. :o And he goes from playing the leader of the Decepticons to the leader of the Autobots. How about that.

Jeff Bennet's name got changed somewhere along the way (for Prowl and Magnus).

Fixed that, I knew it was Bennet, but for some reason it never entered my mind typing it up from the list I used as the primary source. Thanks Fenrir.

Interesting Line Up. I guess I´ll give it a try. I also wonder how Grimlock´s Personality will turn out. Comic Grimlock or Animation Grimlock. Interesting to have some G1 return.

I'm not really a big fan of Transformers (or a fan at all), but am I the only one who thinks those designs are hideous?
