Digimon at Anime Expo

The AX schedule is up at Anime Expo's website.

Among a few interesting non Digimon notes first... a 2 hour Geneon panel and 2 single hour long panels from the largely 'no really we still exist' ADV.

And then we have Toei stuff.

Toei has quite a few things at AX2008...

Their VERY first thing?

An hour and 45 minute screening of Digimon Adventure 02's first 5 episodes, in Japanese, without subtitles....officially.

I kinda wish I was going this year, cause that is just fucking awesome.

I wonder why they'd show them without subs. Even if it's to advertise a potential dual-language release, ya know?

Where did you pull dual language release out of?

We already know they are doing the show subbed via their download service, I doubt they would dub it again.

Chances are they had to turn in tapes for approval by a certain date and the subtitles weren't ready by then.

Either that or someone at Toei screwed up and listed it as 'in Japanese' instead of 'English subtitles' or something, so the AX schedule makers took that as raw.

ps- for those who care, the other shows they are showing

Pretty Cure
Iriya's Sky
Strange Tales
Olynssis
Saint Seiya- Hades Chapter
Slam Dunk, Dubbed
Ga-Nime

I never said "dub it again", I said "dual language", meaning they'd have dub and sub. Some releases, when they have a scene from the original with no corresponding dub track, just say "no English version available" (at least one of them I can name does--the southeast Asian Pokemon 2000 release, on the scene where Tracey predicts the explosion).

Same chance of that being done here is about equal to lost swearing off the liquor for the rest of the year.

Especially since everything I've heard is that no DVDs are planned (At least as of a few weeks ago) for any of their 'on demand' stuff.

It's 'what company wants to translate this for us cheap', 'get up on the web there now' for the time being.

I must have missed that confirmation as last time i knew it was unconfirmed.

Has there been an official confirmation?  Or does GOC just mean the picture/link of Digimon Adventure 02 that was found while digging around the download service?

And damn, I wish I could attend this now.  Not that I haven't already seen the first few raw episodes already, of course, but still, it would be nice to see them on a big screen.  Though still seems strange that they would show raw episodes at all, I thought most conventions either showed dubs or subs.  Unless the schedule is just wrong and it will be subbed, who knows.  Not that I'm going, but nice to hear Digimon is going to be shown.
