Street Fighter IV Announced
Well, it's been over 10 years since Street Fighter III was released, and despite persisting rumors, there was no inkling of Street Fighter IV... until now. And speaking of "ink", check out the new debut trailer, featuring Ken and Ryu facing off in a Japanese ink painting style, reminiscient of Ōkami.

Meh, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike was the best SF, in my opinion.
But maybe that will change soon....

Interesting. You'll wonder who'll be in it. Ryu/Ken and Chun-li of course. Akuma's in there somewhere. Who else would have to be in there? Also, the internet says 2D or nothing. The whole internet says that it seems.

It damn well better be 2d. I stopped playing this series since Marvel vs Capcom 2. I never liked the battle style in Street Fighter 3 though, I guess because I got used to all the super jumps and crazy screen filling specials.

Which I think is a shame; Rival Schools/Project Justice (and to a lesser extent, Star Gladiator/Plasma Sword) proved that a Capcom fighter in 3D can be a good thing. But not enough Americans and other gaijin played those games, so they (OF COURSE!) base their assumptions on the only ones they mainly know about.
My thing? Whether they choose to make it 3D or 2D, they had better make it damn well. I can't stress it enough...Capcom of America (who actually is in charge of this game) has a BAD track record when it comes to trying to take things in their own hands. The Street Fighter: The Movie fighting game, Final Fight Revenge for Saturn and Final Fight Streetwise are ALL examples of what can happen when CoA gets the keys.
If they out-sourced the project to some one like Dimps, maybe there's some hope. If not...then I guess all the naysayers (especially the Japanese fans, who are hating this game with a passion), will just end up being proven correct.

I also enjoyed the MvsC series and think the three should be released on another system. Plus, I'm sure it might be 2D. But we also need a new Darkstalkers game. With new sprites. |
